RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS), a national organisation, has served a show cause notice to Navjot Kaur Siddhu, spouse of former Indian cricket personality Navjot Singh Siddhu, regarding social media claims about cancer treatment using an indigenous method.
The notice seeks verification of their assertions within 7 days or demands an apology. Additionally, it stipulates a compensation of Rs 850 crore should they fail to provide documentary evidence supporting their suggested cancer treatment methods.
“We issued the show cause notice on November 26 and demanded a response from Siddhu within seven days. If society does not receive a satisfactory reply, it will start legal procedure against Siddhu,” said Dr Kuldip Solanki, Convenor of the Society.
The Society has expressed willingness to support Siddhu if the treatment method proves genuine.
“We can name his method as Siddhu/Novjot Protocol and get it published in various international journals,” said Dr Solanki, who practises as a gastroenterologist.
The notice addresses Navjot Kaur Siddhu regarding her husband’s press conference in Amritsar, where he claimed she overcame stage four cancer through dietary modifications within 40 days. Dr Solanki noted this has created uncertainty amongst the public, particularly cancer patients in India and abroad, regarding allopathic medicines.
“We demand clarification with documentary proof about your claim. Whether you fully support your husband’s claim. Do you think that allopathy medicines and the treatment done on you at various hospitals did not work, whether your diet like Neem leaf, Nimbu Paani, Tulsi leaf, and Haldi healed your cancer, and allopathic medicine had no role? If you are standing by your husband’s claim and don’t have proof, then you should hold another press conference to clarify the exact situation as people are being misled. You have played with your life by such misleading information shared by your husband,” Dr Solanki wrote on behalf of the Society.
The organisation seeks Rs 850 crore in compensation for potentially undermining allopathic treatment methods if claims remain unsubstantiated.
“The society will start legal procedure to claim the compensation amount if satisfactory clarification does not come within seven days,” Dr Solanki said, adding that Siddhu is a cricketer, commentator, politician, and comedian, and he should focus solely on those roles.
The Chhattisgarh Civil Society currently has 1,800 registered members across the country from various professions, including medicine, chartered accountancy, engineering, journalism, agriculture, and senior artists, Dr Solanki said.
