Kalyan: An attempt to avoid rush-hour crowd proved costly for a 50-year-old passenger whose legs were severed when he fell between the platform and the train while alighting from the moving Vidarbha Express at Kalyan railway station.
According to Kalyan GRP, Hindola had a suburban train travel pass with him while he was travelling illegally in the express train to reach early and also to avoid peak-hour rush to catch another train from Kalyan station to reach his home in Titwala. The injured passenger, Ankush Hindola, lives in Titwala and works in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The incident took place on Monday at 8:05 pm. GRP sources said that upon seeing the passenger fall, other passengers raised an alarm, and he was rushed to hospital. He was later shifted to Sion Hospital where he was operated upon. —Pradeep Gupta
