Abhay’s good academic life earned him admission into India’s top institution, IIT Bombay. His entry test score, an All India Rank (AIR) 731 in the 2008 IIT-JEE exam, was the best in the nation. Though academically successful, the professional life of Abhay Singh took a surprising turn. As per ET reports, after graduating with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Aerospace Engineering degree from IIT Bombay in 2012, rather than career growth awaiting him in the future, he gave up all such opportunities. Instead of taking the usual path as expected for an engineer, Abhay decided to give up the field of worldly possessions to take the path of spiritual discovery and self-discovery.
This change left everyone stunned, with Abhay having been one of the star students who excelled in academic results and landed a very bright job offer. But he claimed he made this decision due to an insatiable desire for inner peace and self-discovery. Abhay disclosed that he spent three years working in Canada, earning a whopping salary of Rs 36 lakh per annum. But in spite of all the money, he said that material wealth could not make him feel satisfied or give him the sense of inner peace that he yearned for. He decided to leave this prosperous lifestyle behind and devote himself to philosophy and spirituality.

Before fully devoting himself to his spiritual way, Abhay Singh did not just focus solely on books. He expanded his frontiers by pursuing other disciplines such as a Master’s in Design (MDes) and experimenting with photography as per the reports. One of his former classmates, Gaurav Goyal, responded in an interview that Abhay was always the super student—a student who ended up in the top-ranked IIT Bombay buildings. Gaurav couldn’t even imagine how a person who had come so far in school could choose to leave all this behind and seek spirituality.

Apart from discussing his working life and his spiritual life, Abhay Singh also discussed his personal life, particularly his relationship. In one of his old interviews, he explained that he had a girl four years back. However, as there was no understanding between his parents, the two did not advance to the point of having an ongoing relationship. Abhay gladly confessed that his previous experience of having been in an atmosphere where relationships were riddled with conflicts made it difficult for him to grasp the concept of how a healthy relationship would be.
He expressed that, “When you’ve only witnessed negative examples of relationships, it’s difficult to understand how a healthy relationship works.” This insight sheds light on the emotional and psychological factors that can influence one’s personal life choices. Abhay’s experience highlights the challenges of navigating relationships when one’s perception of them is shaped by negative models.
