Hero MotoCorp has launched the four new products, including the Xtreme 250R at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Xtreme 250R takes on a host of rivals in the quarter-litre segment. Amongst these, the motorcycle will also lock horns with the popular KTM Duke 250. Here, let’s take a quick look at how the two bikes stack up against each other in terms of engine specs, features, and price.

Hero Xtreme 250R vs KTM Duke 250: Engine and hardware

Both motorcycles house nearly identical 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engines, with the KTM Duke 250 producing a slightly higher power output of 30.57 bhp compared to the Xtreme 250R’s 29.5 bhp. However, Hero claims a quicker 0-60 kmph acceleration time of 3.25 seconds, making it the fastest 250cc naked motorcycle in India. Torque figures remain the same for both at 25 Nm. Notably, this is also the most powerful Hero model on sale, even more powerful than the Mavrick 440.

On the hardware front, both motorcycles share a trellis frame design but differ in suspension setups. The KTM Duke 250 features a more advanced WP APEX suspension system, with a 43mm USD fork at the front and a 10-step preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear.
In comparison, the Xtreme 250R gets a gas-charged monoshock with 6-step preload adjustability. Both bikes are equipped with 320mm front discs and dual-channel ABS for braking, with the KTM offering a slightly larger 240mm rear disc compared to the Hero’s 230mm.

In terms of features, the Hero Xtreme 250R boasts an all-LED lighting setup, a Bluetooth-enabled digital TFT instrument cluster. This unit provides riders with a lap timer, drag timer, and smartphone connectivity for navigation and music control.
The KTM Duke 250, on the other hand, features a 5-inch TFT display, offering essential riding data and connectivity features. Additionally, it comes with three ride modes: Track, Street and a SuperMoto mode.
When it comes to pricing, Hero has a significant advantage, with the Xtreme 250R priced at Rs 1.80 lakh, ex-showroom. In contrast, the KTM Duke 250 carries a heftier price tag of Rs 2.25 lakh, ex-showroom, making the Hero offering a more affordable choice with a price gap of Rs 45,000.
