Panaji: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Thursday summoned a two-day winter session of the state assembly starting Feb 6. While he will address the House on the first day, govt will pass supplementary demands on the second day. MLAs can also move a private member’s resolution on various matters to seek assurance from govt to resolve public issues on this day.
The opposition criticised govt for limiting the assembly session to two days as it would not allow discussion of public issues. This means that the opposition must now wait for the budget session to raise various pressing matters.
“Summoning an assembly session for two days is not only a mockery of democracy, but is also a clear indication that govt is afraid to face pressing issues,” opposition leader Yuri Alemao said. GFP president Vijai Sardesai said govt has publicly admitted its guilt by strangling the voice of the opposition in the House.
Meanwhile, the CM will chair a meeting regarding the 16th Finance Commission with secretaries and HoDs at Mantralaya at 11am on Friday.
