Mumbai: A 56-year-old man was arrested by DN Nagar police for sexually assaulting a minor girl after blackmailing her with a video clip of her chatting with a young boy. The accused is a grocery shop owner. A 26-year-old man who stood guard outside the victim’s house while she was being sexually assaulted has also been arrested.
The 14-year-old victim lived in close proximity to the grocery shop. The shop owner encouraged her to chat with a teenage boy that he employed at the shop. While the two were chatting, the shop owner discreetly shot a video clip last month. He later blackmailed the girl, threatening to send the video clip to neighbours and to her mother, who did not approve of her chatting with boys.
The girl was terrified. The shop owner then started to visit her residence in her parents’ absence and sexually assaulted her. He would ask a 26-year-old man known to him to stand guard outside the house. This happened on a couple of occasions.
The girl finally complained to her mother, who took her to the DN Nagar police station. The girl was sent for a medical examination. Both the accused were taken into custody. tnn
