KALYAN: Taking serious note of citizen activists‘ protests against pollution in the Ulhas River, the state govt during a special meeting on Friday, decided to remove water hyacinth from Ulhas River within the next 15 days.
Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde convened the meeting during which a consensus was reached on drafting a new action plan for making Ulhas and Waldhuni rivers pollution-free.
It was decided that the removal of water hyacinth from the Ulhas River would begin within the next 15 days, with as many as 10 machines being deployed for the task. It was agreed to implement both immediate and long-term measures.
