Family questions alleged suicide of rape-murder accused Vishal Gawli in jail

THANE: In the case of the suicide committed by Vishal Gawli, an undertrial accused of rape and murder in Taloja jail today, the accused’s family has raised questions about the suicide.
Vishal Gawli’s lawyer, Sanjay Dhanke, said that Vishal Gawli’s family believes their son could not commit suicide and they suspect that, just like the police encountered the accused of sexual assault of schoolgirls in Badlapur, their son was also killed in jail.
Dhanke stated that when Vishal Gawli was arrested, he expressed apprehension in front of the judge in court that his life was in danger and demanded proper security. Gawli’s lawyer demands that Gawli’s suicide be investigated properly.
It may be recalled that on December 23 last year, Vishal Gawli kidnapped a 13-year-old girl living in his area and took her to his house, where he raped the girl and later brutally murdered her.
After the murder, the accused, with the help of his wife Sakshi, dumped the body of the girl at a deserted place in Padgha, Bhiwandi.
Following the incident in Badlapur, this incident in Kalyan led to protests across the state, and in Kalyan city, there was a demand from citizens for capital punishment for the accused.
