Elgar case accused gets interim bail from Jan 13 to 30 to appear for law exams

MUMBAI: A special NIA court granted interim bail to Elgar Parishad accused, Mahesh Raut, from Jan 13 to 30 to appear for law exams. He is lodged in Taloja jail.
Earlier, the court had permitted Raut to appear for the vivas of the semester-I entrance examination of LLB on Dec 12 at a city college.
Ordering his temporary release on Tuesday, the judge directed Raut to furnish proof of his residential address for the bail period. He was also directed to furnish an active cell phone number to the jail authority and investigating agency.
“If required, the prosecution or investigating agency may monitor and track whereabouts of the accused during the period of temporary bail. The accused shall not misuse the liberty granted to him and shall surrender to the jail authority without fail on the same day when the exam is over,” the judge said.tnn
