Eknath Shinde hospitalised with viral throat infection in Thane | Thane News

THANE: Amid growing speculation over who will assume the chief minister’s role in Maharashtra, caretaker CM Eknath Shinde was taken to a private hospital in Thane on Tuesday afternoon after complaining of a viral throat infection.
Shinde, who resides at Shubhadeep Bungalow in the Louiswadi area, was taken to Jupiter Hospital in Laxmi Nagar, just minutes from his home.
He was expected to undergo several tests to assess the viral infection, although it remained unclear whether he would be admitted for treatment.
En route to the hospital, Shinde briefly addressed media queries about his health, reassuring them with a cheerful “badhiya hai” (all okay).
This health issue follows a period of illness for Shinde. Over the past few days, he had been resting at his Thane residence after doctors advised him to avoid meetings and take bed rest.

Despite his condition, he briefly met party colleague Deepak Kesarkar at the helipad on Sunday night for a short discussion.
“Shinde Saheb was down with a viral and throat infection, and doctors advised him to rest. Some leaders tried to meet him on Monday, but the meeting didn’t happen,” a member of his team explained.
Meanwhile, the BJP is preparing for the swearing-in ceremony of the Mahayuti government, set for December 5.
Senior BJP leader Girish Mahajan, who met Shinde on Monday to discuss the ceremony arrangements, assured reporters that the caretaker CM was recovering well.
Mahajan also emphasised that there were no conflicts among the leaders of the Mahayuti alliance.
In the midst of the ongoing uncertainty about the chief minister’s position, Shinde, along with Devendra Fadnavis (widely considered the frontrunner for the role), Ajit Pawar, and other Mahayuti leaders, met Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda in Delhi on Thursday evening to discuss the deadlock.
