MUMBAI: The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested notorious gangster DK Rao, a close aide of underworld don Chhota Rajan, for allegedly threatening a developer in the Sahar area of Andheri.
The Anti Extortion Cell set up a trap late on Wednesday evening, arresting six of Rao’s accomplices and booking them under the BNS sections of extortion, fraud, and forgery.
Officials confirmed that DK Rao and his associates have been arrested and will be produced before the 37th Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday afternoon.
DK Rao, who is facing charges of extortion, forgery, and fraud, has twice escaped from alleged police encounters.
A known henchman of Chhota Rajan, Rao has been involved in various illegal activities, including extortion rackets and violent crimes. His arrest underscores the ongoing crackdown on the remnants of Mumbai’s underworld.
