KALYAN: A 32-year-old man killed his younger brother over a dispute involving Rs 500 in Kalyan. The accused suspected that his brother took Rs 500 from his pocket at home.
When the accused asked for the money, his brother did not return it, which led to a dispute. Subsequently, the man killed his brother by stabbing him with a knife.
The deceased was identified as Naeem Khan (27), and the name of the arrested accused is Salim Khan (32). Both lived with their other brother and mother in the Rohidas Wada area in Kalyan, while the wife of the deceased and the accused was at their maternal home on Tuesday.
Police said the incident took place on Tuesday night when Salim found the money missing from his pocket. He suspected that Naeem took the money, and a dispute arose over this.
Their mother intervened. After she went out of the house, Salim stabbed Naeem with a knife kept in the house and later ran away, leaving him bleeding.
When Naeem’s mother came home, she saw her son injured and, with the help of her younger son, admitted Naeem to Rukminibai Hospital in Kalyan, where he died during treatment. After the incident, the police formed a team, caught the accused in Mumbai, and arrested him.
