THANE: Even as thousands thronged the streets of Thane to witness Dahi Handi celebrations on Saturday, city police recorded 819 traffic violations across various units.According to official data, the highest number of cases were for illegal parking (364), followed by drunk driving (185), riding without helmets (130), jumping signals (83), and not wearing seat belts (43).Meanwhile, police booked 12 motorists for drunk driving in a single night, despite the force being heavily stretched with maximum deployment for bandobast duty due to the presence of the chief minister, deputy CM and other VVIPs across the city.
