Mumbai: Laying emphasis on a patient-centric healthcare system, CM Devendra Fadnavis directed that the components of the healthcare system be evaluated by independent agencies.
Fadnavis held a meeting on Wednesday to review the 100-day plan of the health dept. He directed that Maharashtra take the lead in the Tuberculosis Free India campaign and carry out a campaign for breast and cervical cancer diagnosis. The 108 ambulance service is crucial, said Fadnavis, instructing officials to seek the advice of the advocate general and resolve the legal issues impacting the procurement of new ambulances.
Public health and family welfare minister Prakash Abitkar mentioned plans to amend the Bombay Nursing Act to set treatment rates. “There is a plan to bring private laboratories under the control of the Public Health and Family Welfare Department by establishing a legal framework. An inquiry committee will be appointed to investigate the delay in the availability of test reports in all hospitals of the health department, and action will be taken against those responsible,” he informed the CM.
Minister of state for health Meghana Bordikar and chief secretary Sujata Saunik were also present at the meeting.
