A video of the dramatic mishap has gone viral on social media

MUMBAI: A speeding car went airborne for 25ft after hitting a ramp near Talasari flyover where concreting work is being carried out on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway (NH-48) on Thursday morning. No one was hurt in the mishap.
Dismissing the motorist’s claim that the ramp placed for white-topping work was not clearly visible, Sumit Kumar, general manager (technical), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PIU Thane, said: “We have installed ramps and placed warning boards like ‘Go Slow’ and ‘Ramp Ahead’.”
He added that the authorities have permission to work lane by lane and hence the traffic is controlled on the other two lanes.
After NHAI started cement-concreting NH-48 early this year, several motorists complained about lack of signages, missing dividers and uneven sections on the 121km-stretch from Dahisar to Achhad near Gujarat border.
Palghar activist Harbans Singh Nanade said: “Since the white topping is being done lane by lane, at night it becomes difficult to spot such ramps. Also, at most spots, the divider is missing and there is a height difference between the lanes.”
