Mumbai: A junior engineer with the BMC registered a police complaint against a businessman from Malad for manhandling him when the civic body was to carry out a demolition of his structure. The accused also threatened to self-immolate, the complainant told the police.
The incident occurred around 10:30 am on Monday. Police said the accused ran an allegedly unauthorised structure on Marve Road. The BMC issued an order to demolish the structure, following which a junior engineer reached the location with four workers and their supervisor. Police were not informed, so there was no police bandobast.
According to the junior engineer’s complaint, the accused and a woman started to argue with him, opposing the demolition. The accused allegedly manhandled him. The complaint also states that the accused hit a brick on his own head and injured himself. He further threatened to self-immolate if the BMC team did not leave.
Malwani police said no arrest has been made yet, and they are probing further.
