Blackstone to invest Rs 25k crore in IT sector in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, yield 1k jobs
Key agreements include Kalyani Group’s Rs 5,200 crore investment in Gadchiroli and Reliance Infrastructure’s Rs 16,500 crore in Ratnagiri, promising substantial job creation and development in these regions.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra signed at least 20 MoUs on day one of the World Economic Forum at Davos.
The first MoU worth Rs 5,200 crore was signed with the Kalyani Group in defence, steel, and EVs. These units are proposed in Gadchiroli and promise employment for 4,000 people. The agreements for Gadchiroli are seen as a significant step towards bringing development to a backward region.

Reliance Infrastructure has committed to invest Rs 16,500 crore in the defence sector in Ratnagiri; the job potential is for 2,450 personnel. Balasore Alloys and Viraj Profiles have said they will invest Rs 17,000 crore and Rs 12,000 crore respectively in steel and metals. The two units are expected to employ 6,700 in all.
AB InBev, a Belgian company whose Indian arm is headquartered in Bengaluru is targeting a Rs 750-crore investment at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which will employ 35 people. Vary Energy plans to set up a Rs 30,000-crore unit in Nagpur, which when commissioned, will need 7,500 personnel. A company called Tembo has also signed an MoU for a Rs 1,000 crore unit in Raigad in the defence sector, which could employ 300 people.
In the MMR region, investment company Blackstone plans to deploy Rs 25,000 crore in the information technology sector, which will yield 1,000 jobs. The Blackstone and Panchshil Realty are looking at investing Rs 25,000 crore to set up data centres in MMR, while Bisleri International said it will invest Rs 250 crore in the food and beverages sector, employing 600 people. BookMyShow is planning to invest Rs 1,700 crore in the entertainment sector, also in MMR, and employ 500 personnel.
The highest number of jobs, 23,000, may be generated by the ZR2 Group, which is promising a Rs 17,500-crore investment in the green hydrogen and chemicals sectors. It is followed by Welspun, offering 17,300 jobs in the logistics sector, where it will be investing Rs 8,500 crore.
