THANE: A 40-year-old Bihar resident died after falling off an unidentified railway train between Kalwa and Mumbra railway stations on Monday morning, railway police informed.
The incident was reported around 11 am when the deceased, identified by the police as Azad Ali Shaikh, was travelling in an unidentified train towards Kalyan. It is learnt that he fell off as the train left Kalwa station, officials informed based on a preliminary probe.
The railway authorities were alerted about the man lying injured on the tracks, following which a team reached the spot and rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
“The deceased is a Bihar resident, and his family stays in his native place. He has only one relative who stays in Andheri, who was informed about the incident. We have registered an accidental death case and will speak to his family to get more details and investigate further if required,” the police said.
