Mumbai: State’s information technology and cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar on Wednesday inaugurated the new expanded building of the BMC-run Bhabha Hospital.
Previously, patients were referred to other hospitals for various specialty treatments. However, now that these health services are available at Bhabha Hospital, they won’t have to go elsewhere, said Shelar.
Shelar said, “Even though there are five-star hospitals in the Bandra area, it is important to provide affordable healthcare facilities to the general public. The BMC is working with this objective. For citizens receiving treatment at Bhabha Hospital, services such as neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, cath lab, dialysis centre, and advanced treatment departments are available. Additionally, facilities like CT scan and MRI are also provided.”
Approximately 800,000 people receive medical services through this hospital, said BMC. Every day, 2,000 to 2,200 patients are examined in the outpatient department. Together, both buildings now offer 497 beds. Additionally, 14 modular technology-based surgical departments will be fully operational in the near future, said BMC.
