A two-wheeler that had been flouting traffic rules for nearly a year has finally been seized by the Bengaluru Traffic Police, with a staggering Rs 1.61 lakh in accumulated fines. The vehicle, registered in Karnataka, had racked up 311 challans. This means that the total amount of challans accumulated against the Yamaha Fascino scooter is far more than its actual on-road price.
The long-overdue action came after a concerned citizen flagged the issue on social media platform X. The user, who had been tracking the vehicle’s violations, questioned why the authorities had not yet seized it despite its extensive history of offenses. In response, the Bengaluru Traffic Police acknowledged the complaint and swiftly confiscated the vehicle.

Bengaluru Yamaha Fascino ride challans: What violations were made

Since February 2023, the two-wheeler had been repeatedly caught on traffic surveillance cameras violating road rules across Bengaluru. The infractions included riding without a helmet, jumping traffic signals, using the wrong lanes, and parking in restricted zones. Despite multiple notices being issued to the rider, no payments had been made.

On Monday, the City Market Traffic Police finally tracked down the vehicle and took it into custody. Besides that, the authorities have now issued a legal notice to the registered owner, Periya Swamy, while the rider, identified as Sudeep, has been caught.
