Bawankule says Uddhav abandoned Hindutva for Congress and power, has no right to criticise Modi

Mumbai: BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule launched a scathing attack on Uddhav Thackeray for hitting out at PM Narendra Modi on Friday. In a post on social media, Bawankule said Thackeray in his lust for power had abandoned Hindutva and aligned with the Congress.
“Those who left Hindutva to share power with the Congress are now speaking about protecting Hindus. People have seen how hollow Thackeray’s love for Hindutva was during his two-and-a-half-year tenure (as CM). Hence, he has no standing to criticize a global leader like Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Bawankule.
Recounting the lynching of two Hindu priests in Palghar and Thackeray’s alleged inaction, Bawankule said: “Maharashtra has witnessed the anti-Hindu stance of the Thackeray-led govt during the Palghar incident.”
He said the BJP stood firmly behind Hindus in Bangladesh and supported them by passing the Citizenship Amendment Act.
“Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), however , adopted a timid approach in the Rajya Sabha, fearing Congress’ wrath,” he said.
For the BJP, Hindutva was not a matter of politics but it was its faith and very breath, said Bawankule.
He said Thackeray gave up the late Balasaheb Thackeray’s staunch Hindutva ideology. “Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, Priyank Kharge, criticised Veer Savarkar, his portrait was removed from the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, yet you did not protest,” he said.
