As UBT Sena fires 3 rebel aides, its sole Konkan MLA voices discontent

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT)’s sole MLA from the Konkan, Bhaskar Jadhav, on Saturday expressed his unhappiness at being overlooked in the party, triggering speculation on whether he was heading towards Eknath Shinde‘s Shiv Sena. Just days ago, the party’s former MLA Rajan Salvi joined the Shiv Sena, dealing a major blow to the Sena (UBT).
“I have always stayed in touch with people and they have appreciated it. But it’s unfortunate that I have not received opportunities to match my abilities. I am grateful that there is a section of people in the state who stand with me,” Jadhav said.
In response, Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, “We spoke to Jadhav yesterday and will be speaking to party leaders today. They can express their complaints.”
Meanwhile, industries minister and Shiv Sena politician Uday Samant stirred the pot by saying, “Jadhav is an experienced leader. He is hardworking and a good orator. We will always welcome his guidance.”
The exit of Salvi, who hails from Ratnagiri, has shaken Sena (UBT), which expelled three of his associates Rajendra Mahadik, Vilas Chalke and Rohan Bane for indulging in anti-party activities on Saturday. The Konkan was once the bastion of the undivided Shiv Sena.
In the wake of Salvi’s move into the Shiv Sena, deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde organised a show of strength in Ratnagiri. He took a dig at Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. “Those who accused us of taking bribes, the public has locked them in a box. At least they should stop now,” he said.
He said that the Sena (UBT) needed to introspect about why party workers were leaving. “Instead of making allegations, they should ask themselves why people are leaving them”
“They should not take those with beards lightly. They used to ask who are Eknath Shinde and Ramdas Kadam? We have shown them who we are,” Shinde said. He claimed that when he became CM, Maharashtra progressed to become No. 1.
