Dr Sushma Mahajan, a senior Medico by profession, has turned to canvas to portray her emotions through her exquisite paintings. A radiologist, Mahajan recently gave a glimpse of her artistic expression through her artworks showcased at Jawahar Kala Kendra.
Mahajan displayed 54 paintings at the three-day exhibition titled ‘Vibrant Hues’ depicting nature, life, society and heritage. Bringing various facets of life and her experiences onto the canvas using watercolors, the exhibition was inaugurated by Sunil Arora, former chief election commissioner of India. This show was a real reflection of the mind of a sensitive and thinking personality who attempted to share her feelings of life with the world. For three consecutive days, the exhibition attracted a large number of dignitaries, art enthusiasts and critics including minister of medical and health Gajendra Singh Khinwsar, Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph, artist Gopal Swami Khetanchi, film director Ashok Banthia, artists Vidyasagar Upadhyay and NL Verma, and many more.
Diya Kumari, deputy chief minister also visited the gallery and appreciated Mahajan’s effort to bring new dimensions to Rajasthan’s ancient culture and heritage through art. She found the Lord Ganesha paintings extraordinary and praised the unique combination of colors used in them apart from the depth introduced in them. She admired the easy portrayal of emotions like affection, fear and aggression in her artwork.
Dr Sushma Mahajan, reflecting on her achievement shared, “In our fast-paced lives, we must also experience the beauty of nature. I have understood this through my paintings, and my message is that the nature around us and our heritage are beautiful. I have attempted to strike a work-life balance by finding 2-3 hours daily to pursue my passion as a water colour artist.” Mahajan has previously held 4 solo exhibitions in Jaipur and 2 solo exhibitions at the prestigious visual art gallery in the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
