LUDHIANA: Ludhiana Police have arrested an AAP worker, his girlfriend, and four contract killers in connection with the murder of his 33-year-old wife, Manvi Mittal, also known as Lipsy.
According to the police, Manvi’s murder was the result of her discovering her husband Anokh Mittal’s extramarital affair, which led to ongoing conflicts between the couple.
Police revealed that Anokh and his girlfriend, Pratiksha, allegedly conspired to murder Manvi.
The police investigation revealed that Anokh and Pratiksha hired five men — Amritpal Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Sonu Singh, Sagardeep Singh, and Gurpreet Singh Gopi — to carry out the murder for a payment of Rs 2.5 lakh. While the police have arrested all involved, Gurpreet Singh remains on the run.
Initially, Anokh had claimed that he and his wife were attacked by five assailants while driving home after dinner on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla road. He alleged that he stopped the car near the Dehlon bypass to answer nature’s call when the attackers struck him with a rod, drugged him, and assaulted his wife before fleeing with their gold, cash, mobile phones, and car. However, the police grew suspicious of his story.
Ludhiana commissioner of police, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, confirmed that Anokh Mittal and Pratiksha had conspired to kill Lipsy after she discovered their affair. He added that Anokh and Pratiksha hired contract killers to carry out the murder, and it was revealed that Anokh had previously tried to kill his wife twice but had failed.
