BHOPAL: Five laborers were killed and several others injured after scaffolding collapsed at the under-construction section of the JK Cement plant in Panna on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred while roof slabs were being laid, with hundreds of workers present at the site. Around 50 workers sustained injuries, many of them serious. Company sources stated that relief and rescue operations are underway.
Police rushed to the scene upon receiving the report, and rescue efforts began immediately.
Meanwhile, authorities are working to rescue several workers still trapped under the debris.
Entry into the factory has been completely restricted for safety reasons.
While the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, the administration has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
