Mumbai: A 38-year-old housewife died after an allegedly speeding dumper truck struck her motorcycle in Andheri (East). The collision resulted in fatal head injuries. MIDC police reported that she lost control of her vehicle and suffered severe head trauma from the fall, leading to her death. The incident took place whilst the victim, Muskan Sayyed, was en route to drop her daughter to school. MIDC police apprehended the driver, Nasar Patru Shaikh (33), who had fled with the vehicle towards the Vasai-Thane region.
“The incident occurred in the morning when she was heading to a petrol pump. The accused driver was caught after reviewing CCTV footage from the accident site to his location. The dumper had unloaded the sand materials at the construction site and was speeding in the morning when it hit Sayyed’s motorcycle,” said MIDC police senior inspector Rajiv Chavan.
Her husband rushed to the location after receiving a police call informing him about the accident. In the complaint, the husband said: “We had been waiting for Muskan as she had gone to drop off our daughter to school. When she did not return, I tried calling her but her phone was not reachable. Later, I received the call from the police.” Upon reaching Cooper Hospital, he discovered his wife had succumbed to her injuries. “As soon as the motorcycle came in front of J.K. Traders, a speeding dumper hit it. Muskan suffered serious head injuries as she fell on the road,” said the police.
