NEW DELHI: Police have arrested two persons in connection with several house-breaking thefts in Thane district of Maharashtra and seized from them stolen copper pipes valued at Rs 21.45 lakh, an official said on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials on Monday stopped a tempo travelling between Bhiwandi and Kalyan, leading to the detention of two individuals, according to senior police inspector Janardhan Sonawane.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the two suspects, along with two accomplices, had committed multiple house-breaking thefts across various locations in Thane.
The authorities took into custody two individuals, aged 31 and 44, who were residents of Vijaypura in Karnataka, and recovered the stolen items from their possession.
The arrests helped solve three house-breaking theft cases under Narpoli jurisdiction and two under Padgha police station limits, as confirmed by the official.
The police are continuing their efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.
