12 students win Speak for India district event | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The district competition of Speak for India, an initiative by the Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation in association with The Times of India and Maharashtra Times, kicked off on Feb 20 at Marathwada Mitramandal’s College of Engineering, Pune. The initiative seeks to equip the youth with strategies and techniques to argue in public on a wide range of issues impacting society.
Twelve students who were selected for the zonal competition include Krishikaa Mishra (DY Patil College of Engineering), Akurdi Tejas Dinkar Patil (Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune), Chaitanya Kundalik Kamble (KH College Gargoti, Kolhapur), Rohan Jotiram Kavade (Sanskar Mandir College Pune), Vushabh Sushi Chaudhari (Keshri Sanghavi Arts Commerce and Science College), Rehana Iqbal Imani (Balaji School of Law – Balaji University, Pune), Sananta Deepak Tuljapurkar (DES’ Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Pune), and (from Marathwada Mitramandal’s College of Engineering) Janhavi Rajendra Joshi, Anoop Pawar, Tanisha Prashant Adhav, Aadi Patil and Ayush Sadavarte.
One of the winners, Rehana Iqbal Imani, said, “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Speak for India competition and for the honour of winning at the district level. The competition was a truly enriching experience that not only tested my speaking abilities but also helped me refine my critical thinking, articulation, and confidence. I look forward to representing my district at the next level and continuing this journey of learning and self-improvement.”
This competition offers a dynamic and exhilarating opportunity for the youth to showcase their skills as they strive to be recognised as the top orator in the state. The Maharashtra edition of the debating event will be held in Marathi, Hindi and English. After the district and zonal levels, the qualifiers will put their skills to the ultimate test at the semi-final and final rounds. The winner will take home a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh while the runner-up will receive Rs 1.5 lakh. The six other finalists stand to win Rs 50,000 each.
