Only five games into the season, Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero tore an oblique muscle, but the 22-year-old All-Star is expected to make a comeback tonight. Early in the season, Banchero was scoring 29 points per game on average.
Key players are still out for the Magic, though, including backup center Mo Wagner due to a damaged ACL and standout forward Franz Wagner due to a strained oblique. Additionally, shooting guard Gary Harris, who is battling a hamstring ailment, and All-Defensive Team nominee Jalen Suggs (back) did not participate in the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Paolo Banchero’s return comes at a critical juncture, as the Orlando Magic prepare to take on the Bucks, one of the top teams in the league. With Banchero back in the lineup, the Magic are looking to build on their strong performances and gain more momentum.

The Orlando Magic forward emphasized how encouraging it was to see his teammates continue to play at a high level during his absence, which has further fueled his excitement about returning to full strength. “It’s really encouraging for guys who are out, seeing their teammates step up, get wins, still play the right way, and just uphold that standard that we set at the start of the season. It’s really encouraging and it just makes you excited for when we get back to full strength,” Banchero added.
While Paolo Banchero is excited to return, the Magic have proven they are more than capable of competing at a high level. Under the guidance of head coach Jamahl Mosley, the team has managed to stay competitive, with impressive individual and collective performances. Orlando’s young core has shown maturity, even in the face of adversity, as they have positioned themselves for a potential playoff run.
