ULHASNAGAR: The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) carried out a huge demolition drive on Monday at Camp No. 2 in Hanuman Nagar dumping ground to remove 17 illegal structures.
During the action, a woman attempted self-immolation by pouring kerosene on herself, while another woman tried to climb into a JCB machine to stop the demolition operation.
Officials demolished 17 illegal structures, including houses and huts. Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Shimpi said that during the drive, two women tried to stop the demolition. One woman poured kerosene on herself, but women police officers present there stopped her and detained her.
The official said another woman tried to climb on the JCB, but police and civic staff removed her and demolished all 17 illegal structures completely.
