THANE: The Srinagar police in Thane city arrested a 54-year-old school founder for allegedly repeatedly raping a 42-year-old school teacher on different pretexts over several years.
According to the police, the victim alleged that the accused sexually assaulted her since 2015, exploiting his position of authority.
“She claimed he extorted Rs 6 lakhs from her to secure a teaching position and repeatedly promised to make her permanent while continuing to rape her,” said a police privy to probe.
The arrest was made following a detailed complaint by the victim. The accused was booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions for repeated rape, sexual intercourse by a person in authority, sexual assault by deceitful means, sexual harassment, and acts intended to insult a woman’s modesty.
The police said that the complainant was not part of an earlier sexual harassment case, in which four school management members, including the accused, were previously accused. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
