Kalyan: There was public uproar in Kalyan after a tempo driver allegedly bullied and molested a 19-year-old student who was returning home from college with her friends on Monday.
The incident took place outside Saket College in Kalyan. Police said when the young woman protested to the tempo driver’s advances, the accused allegedly called two of his friends and harassed her. The three even threatened the woman. In retaliation, the woman and her collegemates beat up the three accused. Subsequently, hundreds of people gathered and beat up the accused. On receiving information about the incident, Kolsewadi police took all three accused — Rohan Sharma, Kapil Jaiswal and Ashish Gautam — into custody and arrested them.
Ashok Kadam, senior police inspector of Kolsewadi police station, said, “A case of molestation has been registered and the three accused, all tempo drivers, have been arrested.” — Pradeep Gupta
