THANE: Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske on Monday urged the BJP top brass to replicate the Bihar and Haryana pattern in Maharashtra for anointing Eknath Shinde as the chief minister. He credited Shinde with leading the Mahayuti to victory due to his various welfare schemes and accessibility, which appealed to the voters.
Mhaske said Shinde was the obvious choice considering his popularity in the state and the subsequent state elections, which were led and won under his captainship. “Nitish Kumar was made the chief minister of Bihar even though his party didn’t have the majority. Likewise, in Haryana too, Nayab Singh Saini, who led the party to victory, was made the CM. We are confident the BJP top brass would replicate the same formula in Maharashtra and make Shinde Saheb the CM. We know the BJP doesn’t do injustice to small ally parties, and we expect the them to consider our request and also give a befitting reply to critics who allege BJP is unfair to its allies,” Mhaske said.
Fellow MP Dr Shrikant Shinde also justified how Shinde earned massive popularity among state residents due to his decisions for the overall welfare schemes and ensured development percolated to the last man standing. “He (Shinde) made Varsha (official residence of CM) accessible for the common man and focused on resolving their issues, which is why we as Mahayuti won with such a massive majority. If you ask any karyakarta, they want Saheb to become the CM,” he said.
Meanwhile, a few women conducted a puja at Siddhivinayak temple in Kopri, Thane East, Monday evening, seeking blessings for Shinde to become the chief minister again.
