MUMBAI: City’s first elevated nature trail walkway at Malabar Hill is slated for public opening in January 2025.
Spanning 470 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width, the walkway features an elevated wooden deck, railings and vertical supports.
The project also includes plans for full illumination of the trail.
“Once completed, this will become an iconic tourist attraction, offering stunning views of Girgaum Chowpatty. One side of the trail overlooks a steep valley with a scenic seaside view, while the other side is adorned with lush flora, fauna, and unique trees,” said a BMC official.

Currently, the pile foundation, wooden deck, and electric cabling are completed, with work on the electrical panel room foundation underway.
While there were plans initially for charging a fee for those wanting to use the walkway, there is no plan currently, said an official.

The walkway is being built at a cost of Rs 25 crore. The tenders for this project were awarded in the year 2021.
Considering Malabar Hill is a silent zone, construction works could be taken up only during limited hours in the day, stated an official.
