Mumbai: A sessions court this week rejected the bail plea of a woman in a Rs 1.96 crore investment fraud case. The court cited potential evidence tampering by the accused, Ayesha Khan. Her husband, Zakir Khan, is also an accused. “The say of prosecution would reveal that in spite of the search, the accused was not found at the address. She has not cooperated with the police in the investigation and is avoiding her arrest. Considering the huge amount embezzled by the accused, there is every possibility of her absconding and tampering with evidence,” the judge said.
The judge further stated that prima facie there is material to show the transfer of the amount of some of the investors into the account of the accused. “The material on record goes to show the involvement of the accused along with her husband in cheating the complainant and the persons named in the report. The cheated amount is to be recovered. Further, the disposal of the cheated amount at the hands of the accused is to be unearthed,” the judge said.
