Thane: A woman who worked as a domestic help died after being hit by a car in Badlapur Monday morning. The woman, Mathura Rama Irle, was on her way to work when sh was knocked down by the car, which the police claimed had been “speeding”.
The driver of the car, Mayur Ambavane, who lives in Kolhapur district, was headed to Badlapur for some work when the accident took place.
The woman was crossing the street near Panvelkar Bhumi Complex when she was hit. Witnesses claimed that the woman died on the spot, said senior inspector Kiran Balwadkar of Badlapur (east) police station. While the driver was arrested, the woman’s body was sent for a post-mortem. —Pradeep Gupta
