HYDERABAD: The city recorded its coldest morning in five years on Monday, as temperatures plunged across Hyderabad and surrounding districts.
Ibrahimpatnam bore the brunt of the cold wave, registering the lowest temperature of 6.7° Celsius. Close behind were Gachibowli at 7.1° Celsius and Moula Ali at 7.2° Celsius. BHEL recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4° Celsius, while Rajendranagar saw the mercury dip to 8.2° Celsius. Secunderabad experienced 9.1° Celsius, and Quthbullapur recorded a minimum of 9.9° Celsius.
An intense cold wave also gripped neighbouring districts, including Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Rangareddy, with temperatures in several core areas plummeting below normal minimum levels between midnight Sunday and the early hours of Monday.
Bela in Adilabad recorded the state’s lowest temperature at 6.3° Celsius, followed by Zahirabad at 6.6° Celsius. Other areas, including Bantwaram in Vikarabad, Ibrahimpatnam, and Sirpur in Asifabad, also reported frigid temperatures of 6.7° Celsius each.
