Mumbai: Four people were arrested by Samta Nagar Police for duping a grocery store owner of Rs 50 lakh in a money-doubling scam. The complainant told police he was drugged by the accused.
In Oct, the complainant’s friend informed him of one Shivkumar Yadav who was offering to double money. Yadav summoned the complainant to meet him for a “demo” alone on Dec 17. The complainant agreed. Yadav and his associate drove down the complainant to a flat.
The complainant was asked to place currency notes in the book if he wanted to double his money. The complainant kept a Rs 100 note. The book was covered with a cloth, and sometime later, double the sum came out of it. In the next few days, Yadav asked him to organise a location to carry out a puja. The complainant brought Rs 50 lakh along to the puja location. But once he accepted prasad at the puja, he lost consciousness. When he came to, the money had vanished. tnn
