Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Thursday gave three weeks to the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) to submit an affidavit on the feasibility of rehabilitation of the families displaced due to the ongoing demolition of 41 illegally constructed buildings in Agarwal Nagari, Vasai (East).
The court gave three weeks after an urgent PIL was filed by advocate Chetan Bhoir last week, and was presented by Vijay Kurle for the petitioner.
The Supreme court had ordered the demolition of these 41 buildings as they were illegally constructed on reservation plots allocated for dumping ground and a sewage treatment plant. Till now 38 buildings have been demolished out of the total 41 and the remaining three would be demolished anytime in the next couple of days. — Vishal Rajemahadik
