Mumbai: Students living far from schools will be paid a transport allowance, says a new govt resolution. A total of 20,022 students studying across various grades and residing in 3,301 habitations will benefit from the scheme.
The allowance will be paid through direct benefit transfer. The scheme will benefit those from grades 1-5, who do not have a school within a radius of 1km from their house. It also benefits those from grades 6-8 who do not have a school within a radius of 3km from their homes, and those from grades 9 and 10 who do not have access to a school within a radius of 5km from where they reside. tnn
