UDUPI: A senior citizen sustained injuries in a chain snatching incident. Gopi, 66, a resident of Kantavara village in Karkala, in a complaint, stated that the incident took place on Monday when he was returning after visiting Kanteshwara Temple.
A motorcyclist approached him while he was walking alone back home after completing rituals via the road connecting Baradi to Kantavara, near Ambareesh Cave.
The rider, speaking in Tulu, asked, for an address before grabbing the complainant and attempting to restrain him. The motorcyclist then snatched the gold chain worn by the complainant.
When the complainant tried to hold onto the chain, a portion of it broke off and remained in his hand. The value of the gold chain taken by the unidentified individual is estimated to be Rs 1.20 lakh.
During the scuffle, the complainant sustained injuries to his left hand, neck, and shoulder as he was forcibly pushed aside by the accused. A case was registered at the Karkala Police Station.
