Mumbai: A drunk couple was booked for creating a ruckus outside a Malad bar and assaulting multiple police personnel early on Jan 1.
Constable Arun Pawar of Malad police station was on patrol duty on a motorcycle, along with a Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) jawan, Somnath Govind. Around 2.45am on Jan 1, a citizen alerted the duo to a ruckus outside a Malad bar. When Pawar and Govind reached the spot, they found a 50-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman yelling. They appeared drunk. When the constable and the MSF jawan tried to intervene, the couple began to fight.
Pawar then called for reinforcement. A police van arrived with a team of male and female cops. But the woman accused grabbed Pawar by the shirt collar, broke his name tag and manhandled him. She also bit a policewoman on the wrist, and kicked another in the stomach, before scratching her with her nails. The duo was taken to Malad police station, booked and taken into custody. tnn
