On Tuesday, she and her husband wanted to go to Thane for some work. They took a Western Railway local to Dadar station where they changed trains around 7 pm. They boarded the general compartment of a Karjat-bound fast local.
When the train had reached Ghatkopar station, the woman spotted an empty seat and took it. This sparked an argument between her and the accused, who said that he had “claimed” the seat after asking the commuter who previously occupied it. The woman refused to give him the seat. After a heated exchange of words, the accused allegedly slapped the woman. She began to hit back , at which he grabbed her hands. Her husband filmed the goings-on. The couple were not able to alight at Thane station due to the incident and could only disembark at Dombivali station. They approached the Dombivali GRP with a complaint. An FIR was registered and transferred on Wednesday to Kurla GRP in whose jurisdiction the offence had begun.
