MUMBAI: Chief minister Mr. Fadnavis suggested that the Marathi Language Department should take the initiative to create a ‘ Small Language Model ‘ like Chat-GPT in order to bring our classic Marathi literature to the next generation in today’s era of artificial intelligence.
The Third World Marathi Conference was inaugurated in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis , Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde , Deputy chief minister and Guardian Minister of Pune District Ajit Pawar , Marathi Language Minister Uday Samant , Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council Dr. Neelam Gorhe , Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal , senior writer Padmashree Madhu Mangesh Karnik and amidst great enthusiasm of writers and Marathi lovers from the country , state and abroad .
Fadnavis expressed his happiness in presenting the first Sahitya Bhushan Award of this conference to the creative writer Padma Shri Mangesh Karnik, who started producing literature at the age of four and is still producing all kinds of literature at the age of 93 .
Marathi lovers and writers from Maharashtra , other states and abroad have come to this conference and the Marathi Language Department has truly made this conference a global one. There is no country in the world where Marathi people have not reached. When I went to the Davos World Economic Forum, a child there beautifully demonstrated ‘ We are lucky to speak Marathi ‘ and I felt proud that even though Marathi people have gone abroad for so many years, my Marathi has not gone away from them , and they are trying to pass it on to the next generation.
Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde said , ” This is the third year of this World Marathi Conference, which says ‘ Marathi Tituka Melwava… ‘ . My language is classical , this feeling alone is a source of pride. Our language is ancient , it is still prevalent today. We have proven with evidence that excellent literature is produced in my Marathi language . Only then did it attain the status of classical language. This World Marathi Conference is a Mahakumbh Mela for books and the creators of books ,” he also said.
We proved to the Centre that the Marathi language has a history of almost 2,000 years. For this, the Sahitya Parishad had submitted a big piece of evidence to the Centre. The Satavahana inscription carved on the stone walls in the cave of Naneghat in Junnar taluka is that valuable evidence and it was important for our Marathi to get the status of a classical language , said Mr. Shinde on this occasion.
While the 98th All India Marathi Literature Conference is being held in Delhi in February, some people are criticizing the World Marathi Conference for not being held. However, both the events are of pure Marathi language. Marathi speakers will gather at both places. Marathi will be the focus of attention at both places , he added.
